Sadhvi to Sufi singer, cricket star: Surprising and not so surprising faces in Lok Sabha

Days after the “Modi wave” decimated the opposition and left principal opposition shell shocked and forced to undertake soul searching, now all eyes are set on Parliament whose walls are ready to create history once again and at the same time the vacuum created by stalwarts in the Lower House will be missed.
This time, Lok Sabha will witness some surprising and not so surprising faces.
Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is new BJP MP from Bhopal where the Malegaon-blast accused defeated Congress stalwart Digvijaya Singh. But for Thakur electoral victory does not seem to matter as much as her controversial remarks on the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. She now faces the chance of disciplinary action from the party leadership for her comments glorifying the ‘right-wing’ Nathuram Godse.
Among the newly elected MPs include noted Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans from North West Delhi. The saffron party’s gamble to show door to former civil servant and Dalit leader Udit Raj, who has now joined Congress, has fetched dividends.

China, EU sign milestone agreements on civil aviation cooperation

China and the European Commission on Monday signed two milestone agreements on civil aviation, marking an important step to implement the consensuses reached by leaders from both sides during the China-EU Summit held last month.

The two agreements are Agreement on Civil Aviation Safety between China and the European Union (EU) and Agreement between China and the EU on Certain Aspects of Air Services.
Hailing the two aviation agreements as “a first big step”, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said: “In an increasingly unsettled world, Europe’s partnership with China is more important than ever before.”

“The EU firmly believes that nations working together makes the world a stronger, safer and more prosperous place for all,” Juncker said in a statement.

The two agreements “will create jobs, boost growth and bring our continents and peoples closer together. Today’s agreements show the potential of our partnership (with China) and we should continue on this path of cooperation,” he said.

The entertaining ‘tamasa’ in between exit and the exact going to die in hours

Till the time the counting starts there is little that the journalists and the poll-watchers can do other than confusing the people and add to the candidates heart-beats only. There is no second opinion that the television channels have arrogated to themselves the foreteller role influencing a larger mass from the 1.30 crore Indians.
Defying any logic whatsoever in the books some channels have overstepped their limits of ethics and the anchors were seen claiming a decisive victory by Pragyan Thakur in Madhya Pradesh and even predicting a humiliating defeat for Digvijay Singh. All this despite the media blaze that Thakur had openly said that Nathuram Godse was a patriot. ‘ How could this happen ‘ asked the anchor to the panelists !
Narendra Modi went on record saying that he will not forgive Pragyan for daring to glorify the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi’s killer but nothing happened and it remains to be seen when he will punish Pragyan and how ?
How many in the Bharatiya Janat Party can swear in the name of God that they really oppose Pragyan Thakur’s stand on Godse !

At his first ever ‘press conference’ in Delhi, a lost Modi plays second fiddle to Shah!

A press conference in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi showing a virtual participation and sharing the occasion with party president Amit Shah, about little less than 48 hours before the polling for the final phase, was not for nothing is what certain pollsters feel about.
Wearing a look of fatigue, perhaps after a prolonged slugging in campaigns countrywide, Modi was a different persona. The press conference was too different because after being aggressive for five long years, Modi-Shah combo looked dull. Besides, an unstoppable orator and a man who has a penchant for taking the centre stage at any given occasion, the suave Modi was surprisingly ridden off that aggression at the opponent, and his self-imposed choice to play a second fiddle to Shah must have something in between the lines to read.
The brief narrative interjected by the PM was a sobered edition of what Modi was known for, and a politician with firepower that no present opponent can match up to gave an impression as if he was battling from within against some impulses of discomfiture.

Having your hands on spiced up stories on a regular basis proves the fact that breaking news even if it is irrelevant, sells like hot cakes. Furthermore, news sources of the present times are faced with one of the major challenges and that is of advertisements. The news portals these days are flooded with different types of advertisements and this might not be a very pleasant experience for you as a news seeker.

The Problems of Getting News in the Present Times

From small advertisements informing the users of how fabulous a certain company and its products and services are to quarter pages to sometimes even full page advertisements, news channels, newspapers and various other sources of news are being used by the marketers as one of the best places for marketing their products and services. However, this is not something that is appreciated by the readers or the news seekers. Imagine waking up early in the morning to get some updates and Odisha latest news, only to find that you have been greeted with an assortment of advertisements.

This definitely does not serve as the perfect beginning to the day. It is only because of this reason that many individuals who are actually addicted to daily news updates, simply get irritated of this entire hoax that is presented in the form of latest news. Odisha Political News Online vs News Available in Newspapers

Earlier, it was quite difficult to imagine mornings without newspapers. People used to wake up, have their cup of tea and go through the newspapers for finding latest Odisha political news and other happenings and events from around the country and the world. However, things have completely changed in the recent times. Every hour, there is some kind of news and there is something happening every minute. This has made it important for news sources and portals to be news-ready always. This means that they must have the ability of presenting information to readers and news seekers the moment something happens.

Is It Good to switch to the Internet for News?

The internet these days serves as one of the best ways of getting latest news from around the country. Here, it is also important to note that if you want, you can even get the latest updates directly on your cell phone. This is of course without the mention of the television news sources that broadcast information 24/7. So, do you really think that the newspaper is needed these days and what is the future of this industry?

There are many individuals who are in this habit of reading newspapers. These are the people who do not consider that there is even this need of changing anything. They do not consider it a good move to switch from the newspaper to the TV or to the online news portals. The feeling that comes from reading a newspaper is just like the feeling that comes from reading a book and it is deeply rooted in many individuals. With newspaper reading comes the flexibility of getting your dose of news on the goe, while having your meal, while lying on bed or even while in the lavatory. Certainly, the laptop can even be used in these places but it can prove to be far less efficient and convenient.

Availability of News on the Internet

On the other hand, Odisha political news available from different news sources serves as the future of reporting. Not only political news from Odisha but different other varieties of news from various other parts of the country and the world are available online. People can easily go through news articles and stories that they would like to read on the different internet news portals. Thus, it would not be incorrect to say that the newspaper publishers should also join the already existing portals or create their very own websites for making news available to individuals who want their daily dose of information. Creating brand new and well-know portals with interesting information is in no ways detrimental to the newspapers. Moreover, it helps them in expanding their sources of funding. Thus, it would be wise to say that the newspapers should also join this trend of making news available online.

Conclusion

Statistics from around the world have proved the fact that the number of newspaper readers is falling annually. This is something that is quite reasonable. The young generation does not tend to be attracted to the newspaper. To get news about politics in Odisha or any kind of news on any subject across the world, they prefer visiting the internet.
