Life of 38 years old saved by creating vascular access from nowhere for hemodialysis at Apollo Hospitals

Shalini (name changed) underwent an unsuccessful kidney
transplant (known follow-up case of chronic kidney disease, underwent previous
renal transplant which failed after 5 yrs) in 2014 in a private hospital, post which
she had to continue her dialysis on a regular basis.
The frequent hemodialysis blocked her veins creating access problem for
hemodialysis. This blockage also made her life miserable as she couldn’t lie down
or lead a normal life. Unable to continue her dialysis elsewhere, she came to Dept.
of Nephrology in Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Kolkata in April, 2019 and was seen
by Dr Sandeep Bhattacharyya who in turn referred her to Dept. of Vascular &
Non-Vascular Intervention for any possible help.
Dr Manash Saha, Senior Consultant, Interventional Radiologist, Apollo Gleneagles
Hospitals Kolkata on examining Shalini, realized that both her internal jugular veins
(left and right) as well as both her subclavian and innominate veins (left and right) are
completely blocked due to repeated dialysis and hence are not fit for further dialysis.

Some of the interventions include self-sampling for HPV and sexually transmitted infections, self-injectable contraceptives, home-based ovulation predictor kits, HIV self-testing and self-management of medical abortion.

TVS introduces new colour ‘Matte Silver’ in TVS NTORQ 125

Two and three-wheeler makers TVS Motor Company on Tuesday introduced a new colour–Matte Silver–for their 125cc scooter offering TVS NTORQ 125. The new colour is a celebration of TVS NTORQ 125, India’s first  connected scooter, becoming the most awarded scooter in India for FY 18-19.

NDA intact, no rift with BJP over symbolic representation in Modi government: Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated that there was no rift with BJP after JD(U) rejected its proposal for symbolic representation in Narendra Modi government, saying NDA was intact and there was no need to create much hype over the issue.

Mr Kumar after “Lok Samvad” programme organised at his official residence here, told media persons that BJP president Amit Shah had offered one berth in Narendra Modi cabinet to JD(U) as symbolic representation of allies of BJP in the government. JD(U) after consultation with members of core committee of the party, decided not to accept the proposal of symbolic representation in Narendra Modi government, he stated.

The Chief Minister said that unnecessary hype was being created over refusal by JD (U) to accept the offer of symbolic representation in Narendra Modi government as the matter had now been closed. There was no rift with BJP over the issue and NDA was intact at all, he added.

World cricket would miss the great fighter,Yuvraj Singh, who was a real match winner for India

High alert sounded in Karnataka following outbreak of Nipah virus in neighbouring Kerala

The Karnataka health department has sounded high alert in the state against outbreak of Nipah virus in neighbouring Kerala.

In Kerala, seven persons were kept in ICU and more than 300 people were quarantined causing concern about possibility of its spread to neighbouring States.

In the meanwhile, Kerala health minister K.K. Shailaja said on Thursday that six patients who were under observation suspecting Nipah virus at the Government Medical College in Kochi were tested negative.

The lab report received from the National Virology Institute in Pune showed that the six patients were not affected with Nipah, the mMinister told newspersons.

Though the latest report gives much relief, the preparation to counter the deadly virus will continue, Shailaja added.
